Youth Opportunity Foundation, a Carmel, Indiana-based, national not-for-profit group that funds grants to organizations serving at-risk young people, has partnered with Ivy Tech Community College’s Evansville Campus to provide access to online classes for youths graduating from treatment programs.

The partnership will coordinate grants for qualified young people at all 18 of the residential campuses owned by Youth Opportunity, a leader in providing best-in-class treatment programs for youth.

“We are proud to partner with a leading on-line college to provide educational opportunities to young people recovering from trauma and behavioral problems,” said Denny Armington, president of Youth Opportunity Foundation. “This is an unprecedented initiative and one we hope other postsecondary institutions will adopt. The road to independence for at-risk youth begins with education.”

"We are pleased to be able to offer online courses that provide the right path toward a high-demand career that can bring them stability and success in the future,” said Jonathan Weinzapfel, chancellor of the Evansville Campus.

John Murphy, president of the Ivy Tech Foundation, added, “We are excited about this partnership with Youth Opportunity Foundation. They are an innovative organization with proven outcomes. This program will help deserving young people.”

“We are pursuing a broad range of actions to help distressed and traumatized youth,” continued Armington. “Workplace development is among the cornerstones of our mission to provide opportunities for at-risk young people to succeed in life.”
